I haven't written this book in response to years of being asked: Why do you refuse to be interviewed? Why do you spurn the interest of radio and TV programme-makers? Why have you steadfastly shied away from publicity? Are you ashamed of what you do, of what you sell? When years ago I was targeted by a newspaper with front page headlines branding Finbarr's books as 'evil', the paper's editor later told me that none of this would have happened if I was more visible and known to the public. 'Your anonymity is your problem', he said. He was both right and wrong: for he had no choice but to later publish an article presenting our books in a positive and beneficial light. The newspaper had no choice but to publish this article, for it knew otherwise it faced massive litigation - or worse!
Not bad for an 'outsider' - a person with no media connections and with no friends in the right places! And this is exactly what Finbarr is about: Finbarr's books are for the outsider: for the person without connections, for the person who is otherwise helpless and powerless! For the individual with little else going for him where society is concerned the secret powers of prayer... psychology... the occult is about all that he's got going for him!

There is no substitute for personal power! DECADES AGO THERE WERE MANY FIRMS IMITATING OR RIVALLING FINBARR. THEY ALL SUBSEQUENTLY PERISHED. But they shouldn't have. We have vested interest in seeing others thrive and prosper: it may seem bizarre, but my book explains it!
NOW GET THIS: I HAVE LESS THAN AVERAGE I.Q. (I DON'T WANT TO EMBARRASS MYSELF BY SAYING HOW MUCH LESS!). I was never at college or university. A degree? Are you kidding! I am not fast at learning things: Sometimes I am painfully slow. And I am not computer literate. If I was out of work tomorrow I would be on the scrapheap. I can offer no CV, and have no qualifications of any kind. My daytime job when starting Finbarr was as meter reader for the local electricity board! And before that: hotel dish-washer!
